The Company's history is provided below in a succinct and summarised form, stressing the main events that market its life.

1954 Founding of the Eng. Gustavo Cudell company as a sole trader by Gustavo Roberto Adolfo Cudell. The premises were, at that time, in Rua Alexandre Braga, 42-1.º in Porto. The activity consisted in the trade of electrical tools, power transmission belts, water meters and woodworking machines. Examples of innovations of that time: Bosch (Germany) high-frequency electric tools Power transmission belts coated with synthetic materials from Siegling-Germany.

1956

Move to new premises in Rua do Bolhão, 157 - Porto.

 

 

 

1959

Inauguration of the branch office in Lisbon.

The company had a modern automobile fleet.

1960

Introduction of innovative oil-hydraulic technologies in Portugal for industry and irrigation systems for agriculture.

Beginning of the collaboration with Bauer - Austria, in the sprinkler irrigation area.

1961

Beginning of the collaboration with Rexroth - Germany, in the area of oil-hydraulics.

1963

Change of the premises of the Lisbon branch office to Rua Passos Manuel.

1968

Beginning of the collaboration with Rain Bird – USA.

Dissemination of sprinkler irrigation technology by means of technical courses and seminars for clients and employees.






1970

Inauguration of the warehouse and general workshop area in Rua António Silva Marinho (1200 m²) – Industrial Area of Porto.

Beginning of the company's computerisation.

Beginning of the stabling business for swine and bovine.

1972

The Eng. Gustavo Cudell company (sole trader) became limited liability company Gustavo Cudell, Lda.

New branch office in Avenida do Brasil - Lisbon.

1973

Opening of new branch office in Elvas, Alentejo, to serve the agricultural sprinkler irrigation market.

1974

Introduction of Bauer cisterns in Portugal.

 

1975

Dissemination of oil-hydraulic technology by means of technical courses and seminars for clients and employees.

Opening of the new Branch Office in Beja, Alentejo.

 

1979

The company commemorates its 25^th Anniversary.

1984

Change of head office to own premises in Rua Eng.º Ferreira Dias, 954 – Industrial Area of Porto.

Concentration of all the technical, commercial, logistics, workshop and administrative services in a single unit (6000 m²).

1988

Gustavo Cudell Junior joins the company.

1989

Opening of the first Irrigation Shop in the Algarve, in line with an innovative marketing concept in Portugal.

1990

Death of the founder of the company Gustavo Roberto Adolfo Cudell on 20 December.

Gustavo Cudell Junior takes over the company's Management.

Beginning of the collaboration with Hunter Industries, Inc. - San Marcos - CA/USA.

1993

Achievement of the first industrial automation projects integrated in the oil-hydraulic activity.

Opening of the new Irrigation Shops in Porto and Lisbon.

1997

Implementation of new integrated Software and new information technologies.

1998

Launch of the Euro project – Year 2000 (Y2K).

Opening of the new Irrigation Shop in Aveiro.

2000

Opening of the new Irrigation Shops in Beja, Braga and Azeitão.

Implementation of the 1^st www.gustavocudell.pt site on the Internet.

Achievement of the largest oil-hydraulic/automation project in Portugal (Castelo de Bode Dam - CPPE / EDP Group).

2001

Opening of the new Irrigation Shop in Lagos - Algarve.

The Euro (€) becomes the reference currency in the company's information (June 2001).

2002

The company is appointed "International Distributor of the Year 2001" by Hunter Industries, Inc. - San Marcos - CA / USA.

2003

Opening of the Batalha Irrigation Shop.

Hunter Industries, Inc. – San Marcos – CA/USA attributes the “Hunter Marketing Excellence Award 2003" prize to Gustavo Cudell.

2004

Opening of the 1^st Oil-Hydraulic Shop in Batalha.

The Company commemorates its 50^th Anniversary.

Beginning of the collaboration with Vista - CA/USA in low voltage landscape lighting (12 V).

2005

Publication of the 'Gustavo Cudell - 50 years' book.

2006

Opening of the Palmela Irrigation Shop.

Creation and launch of the new Cudell brands.

2007

Implementation of the 'Service Plus' Innovative Project in the Engineering & Services Division.

Achievement of the Hydraulic Drive and Control System fot the New Bascule Bridge in Leixões.

2008

Implementation of the 2^ndwww.cudell.pt internet site.

Launch of the 1^st Oil Hydraulic and Industrial Automation Catalogue.

 

 

 

2009
Change of the Engineering & Services Division premises from Lisbon to Quinta do Anjo - Palmela. Opening of the new Irrigation Shop in Cascais. Launch of new range of products for Swimming Pools and Water Pumps in the Outdoor Solutions.

2010 Gustavo Cudell, Lda. has been awarded with the statute PME Excellence 2010.

2011 Cudell - Irrigation Shop (Outdoor Solutions) opens account in Social Networks Facebook and Twitter.
